With a background in Physical and Health Education, Nicki commenced working for the newly established Australian Sports Drug Agency in 1989. (now the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority). Initially the first full-time drug testing officer, Nicki developed and managed the Drug Testing Program before going on to head the International work of the Agency establishing and implementing international agreements.

In 1996 , Nicki was appointed as the Program Manager for Doping Control for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In 2002 following a year working as one of the start up Directors of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Nicki established “Nicki Vance Consulting” providing services and advice primarily in the anti-doping field.

Key current work:

Providing technical advice to PWC, the company responsible for the bulk of national sample collections with in Germany and in various locations in and outside of Germany for WADA, other national anti-doping organisations and International Federations.

Providing technical advice and client support to the Norwegian company Transform Learning for its exciting new product Real Winner, an interactive anti-doping education tool.   
 
Provision of advice and support to Berlinger - producers of the predominate international anti-doping collection equipment.

Other consultancy work includes or has included:

	Providing advice to various major Games Organising Committees such as:
		Athens 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Doha Asian Games 2006. Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games Organising Committee. 2009 Sydney World Masters Games Organising Committee. Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid.
		Nicki was the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) Anti-Doping Manager for 2008 establishing the IBAF Anti-Doping Program and was an Advisor to the Romanian Anti-Doping Agency from 2006 – 2008.
		Drafting documents such as the IOC Anti-Doping Rules for Athens 2004, and Technical Manuals and Guidelines for anti-doping programs for the IOC, International Paralympic Committee,  Olympic Games Knowledge Services, Event Knowledge Services.
		Various tasks for ASDA (and its successor, ASADA), including compliance reviews and provision of advice for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Nicki is a member of the International Paralympic Committee Anti-Doping Committee, member of the Australian Paralympic Committee Anti-Doping Committee and observer member of the Association of National Anti-Doping Organisations (ANADO).
